Midfight Misdirect Macro (MMM)

Sup peeps,

Last night got my first Illidan kill (thanks for the bow buddy) but struggled with misdirects mid fight due to it being a new guild and a new fight for me. I found this pretty kick ass macro that will allow some great flexibility for me...

/focus [modifier:ctrl,target=mouseover,help]
/cast [target=mouseover,help] Misdirection; [modifier:alt,target=focus] Misdirection; [modifier:shift,target=playerpet] Misdirection

My question is, can I make the macro so it defaults to /focus if no-one is 'moused over' instead of having to ALT-Click my hotkey to misdirect to my /focus target?

Thanks

Magesty

/focus [modifier:ctrl,target=mouseover,help]
/cast [target=mouseover,help] Misdirection; [modifier:shift,target=playerpet] Misdirection; [target=focus] Misdirection

That should work.

EDIT: Changed it a bit.

I normally have a Raid Target pulled out from the Raid UI of the players that are the main tanks for our runs. This allows me to click my Misdirect spell mid-fight and it gives me the "highlighted hand" cursor for who to cast it on (since I have the boss targeted). This allows me to now click their RaidUI pullout and it will cast the misdirect on them.

I don't need a special macro for that in this case. I also sometimes use /focus on the main tank receiving the misdirect and I use XPerl so it gives me a Focus Frame of that target. This allows me again to click my Misdirect spell which gives me the highlighted hand which I can then click on the Focus Frame of the main tank target to cast Misdirect on them.

I have never relied on a Misdirect macro as I've had too many screw up and I feel it is too important a spell to mess up. My Misdirects are done carefully and by hand.

Whatever works best for you though is what you should go with. Whether that be by hand or through the use of a Macro. Good luck!

simplest thing to do is make a macro for the people you will need to md. for example, i have 3 macros,

/target blacksen
/cast misdirection

/target kyton
/cast misdirection

/target dalrok
/cast misdirection

you can change those macros so it will not remove your current target by using the [target=] parameter on the /cast

examples:
Code:
/cast [target=blacksen] Misdirection
/cast [target=kyton] Misdirection
/cast [target=dalrok] Misdirection
Using this will cast Misdirection on the appropriate target without changing your current target

3 macros, while fine for some, defeats the object of what I was trying to acheive. It's just as easy to hit the wrong key out of three macros as it is to accidently mouse-over the wrong party member.

Of course everyone has their own specific style that works best for them, I just know the 4-click version that blizzard gives me by default is awful.

Looking forward to playing with these tonight in MH or BT

If you know you are going to be MDing the same person throughout the fight (i.e. the main tank), then just set him to your focus before the fight, and then use this macro during the fight:

/cast [target=focus] Misdirection

If you may have to misdirect more than one target during the fight, the other solutions above are on target.
